After a 17-year hiatus since his last solo exhibition at the Paragon in 1999, Mr Nai Swee Leng launched his solo art exhibition at the ION Art Gallery – ION Orchard on 11 June 2016. The “Expressing Emotions Nanyang Ink Works by Nai Swee Leng”, organised by the Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery featured more than 50 paintings across 4 themes, “清逸雅致 Elegant Tranquility” , “古韵新声 A New Taste of Nostalgia”, “笔墨情趣 An Aura of Ink Brillance”, “蕉风椰影 A Touch of Nanyang”. An art catalogue “抒怀 Expressing Emotions” was printed in conjunction with this show, with multiple essays discussing Mr Nai’s art works and artistic background.
Media coverage included features on both main English and Chinese newspapers – The Straits Times Life and the Lianhe Zaobao, respectively, during the week of the art exhibition.
The Exhibition was a huge success with an impressive full-house audience at the ION Art Gallery during its Grand Opening, as well as the ArtTalk & Demonstration a week later.
