Nai Swee Leng (b. 1946) is a distinguished Singaporean Chinese ink artist whose bold and spontaneous xieyi 写意 brushworks blends the traditions of the Shanghai and Lingnan schools with the subjects of Nanyang. He has spent over five decades creating expressive Chinese ink paintings of flora, fauna, and Southeast Asian landscapes that reflect his lifelong pursuit of zhēn 真 shàn 善 měi 美 — truth, goodness, and beauty. Swee Leng’s Chinese ink paintings are not only represented at galleries locally and abroad, but are also collected by private and corporate art collectors around the world and presented as diplomatic gifts to foreign guests and visitors of the Government.

Swee Leng shares his passion for Chinese ink painting and calligraphy with art lovers from different walks of life. Today, many of his students have become long-time friends and fellow artists.
