Together with 13 international artists, Swee Leng was invited to participate in the Chinese Ink Art Festivity in Hong Kong launched on October 1, 2014.

He was the only Singapore representative. During the Festivity’s group exhibition, Swee Leng exhibited 2 of his art works. Thereafter in April 2015, in conjunction with the Festivity, Swee Leng held his solo art exhibition at the Jao Tsung-I Academy – Jointly organized by 香港艺育菁英1, Jao Tsung-I Academy2 and Wan Fung Art Gallery, in conjunction with the Chinese Ink Art Festivity.

 

 

During the solo art exhibition, Swee Leng spoke to a class of art professionals on the topic of “Traditional Chinese Ink and Nanyang Art Styles”, and shared with the audience about various pioneer artists of Singapore including Dr Chen Wen Hsi, Cheong Soo Pieng, Chen Chong Swee and Liu Kang.

 

1艺育青英 is a non-profit organization in Hong Kong that focuses on arts education in different genres and the cultivation of artists from the younger generation in Hong Kong (http://www.yadp.hk/about.html).

2Jao Tsung-I Academy, located at the former Lai Chi Kok Hospital, is a historic compound selected as one of the projects under the “Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme” of the Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government. With the support of the government and community partners, the compound is now revitalized as a center that promotes Chinese culture and facilitates cultural exchange.
